Boston's Aloud Releases Single "Agua Mala" to Combat Flint, Michigan Water Crisis

In an effort to help combat the ongoing water crisis in Flint, MI, Boston-based alt/soul-rockers Aloud have teamed up with Kendra Jones of Brooklyn's Cold Blood Club to lend a helping hand through their new single "Agua Mala".  Frustrated with the three year, man-made disaster that has rocked a community and taken away a basic human commodity, this collaboration gives listeners a way to give much needed support to the people of Flint.  All proceeds from downloads of "Agua Mala" will go directly to the Flint Water Fund set up by The United Way of Genesee County. -Brian Varneke

Cold Blood Club - Making Brooklyn Dance Again

Dance music is making a big comeback in Brooklyn, prompting some of us to wonder whether we listen to too much white boy indie rock and not enough music that is more a) optimistic and b) representative of women and minorities. Indeed, in 'White Boyz,' Cold Blood Club's lead singer Kendra Jones shouts "I need a nice white boy," over borderline schizophrenic beats. It's an ecstatic track that highlights how much fun a warehouse show can be instead of another white boy singing about his suburban upbringing. Check out the track below, and see them when they play tonight at The Bell House at 8pm with The Woes and Late Cambrian.

Cold Blood Club opens for Future Bible Heroes at Bowery on 07.23

“Goodbye to All That” (streaming below), the new single by Brooklyn art-rock ensemble Cold Blood Club, could be taken as an adieu to their previous sound -- nervy, chorus-heavy dynamics based around the husky alto of Kendra Jones. This time around, Tom Staurt handles the leads in a soaring new romantic swoon that feels vibrant and tragic, the perfect vehicle for delivering the painful theme of letting one thing go in the quest for personal redemption. The track dips and rises around shimmering guitars and a tribal rhythm, reminding that the train of life goes in one direction: Forward. Catch Cold Blood Club at the Bowery Ballroom with Future Bible Heroes (featuring Stephen Merritt of the Magnetic Fields) and Luxury Liners on July 23.--Brian Chidester. - Brian Chidester

Cold Blood Club releases a first EP

You remember 'White Boyz' right? The song that tried to make white male timidity into a cool thing, while being picked up for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2012 to soundtrack catwalks across Bryant Park. Indeed, Cold Blood Club are almost too catchy for their own good. Well, now the group is back with their first official EP, 'Headlines & Firefights.' Lead vocalists Kendra Jones and Brad Peterson are not exactly known for being timid, so you know when they do something new, it's sure to turn heads. And based on their increasing penchant for loud, obnoxious party music, and loud, insane parties... it's bound to be a thing best experienced live. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)

New to the scene: Cold Blood Club plays Manhattan Bridge Archway on 08.09

So apparently singer Kendra is now into white guys. It’s true. Cold Blood Club’s new single ‘White Boyz’ (streaming below) reads almost like a wanted ad from some strange site where black girls look to take advantage of naive Caucasian gentlemen (ok, it sounds like an awesome site… and the kind of thing we are all for!)

While the Brooklyn act has always had a knack for biting, dance floor energy like in anthemic single ‘Ladies & Gentlemen,’ never before have they sounded this pungent. It’s a good thing for a new band that’s already played around town with members from TV on the Radio (Tunde), and set to continue burning through the club circuit when they take on CMJ this fall. See them live at the Manhattan Bridge Archway in Dumbo on August 9. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
