Bad Hand, the new EP from quartet Littler, will be released on both 7” (Disposable America /Yellow K) and cassette (Disposable America/Anxiety Pop) on April 28, but you can stream it now at The Fader. Interspersing mellowing waves of acceptance, while also exhibiting aggressive points of raw, emotive venting, the album continually shifts perspective. In the midst, they find a melodic middle ground between peaks of peacefulness and potency. The band has a series of West Coast dates (including a record release show) that start next week.

Bi-coastal rockers Littler announced that they would be going on hiatus this past summer, but that doesn't seem to have lasted very long. The band just announced that it will be releasing a four-song EP, titled Bad Hand, on April 28 via Yellow K Records/Disposable America. It was recorded and mixed by Kyle Gilbride (of Wherever Audio). The goup already shared its lead single, "Oversteeped," which was also accompanied by a music video, and now, we have another new single for your listening pleasure called "Running Hot". While Littler might have officially gone on hiatus this past summer, the band has shed some light at the end of the tunnel with their new music video for "Oversteeped". The single is off the four-piece's upcoming EP Bad Hands, which was produced by Swearin's Kyle Gilbride and is slated for release in 2017. The group's latest video was shot on 16mm film by Kenny Suleimanagich, and directed by Dylan Hansen-Fliedner. The lifespan of an indie band is often short-lived in these modern times, and the Philly DIY scene is bracing itself for another little heartbreak, as half the members of four-piece Littler prepare to move across the country. It hurts to see them go, especially as they were starting to receive a bit of national attention. Their bubbly brand of Slumberland-soaked twee-punk and emotion sheathed in prickly fuzz will be sorely missed, and I'll be keeping an eye to the western horizon in hopes of their return. The band's last booked show in Philly will be held tonight at Everybody Hits, with a host of avant acts that will add an interesting contrast to Littler’s unabashed pop devotion. Ursula, a recent transplant to Philadelphia and self-proclaimed no-wave band, will open the night with songs that know structure but no tune. Their decidedly unmelodious, repetitive riffs and harsh vocals hang in tattered shreds from steady, plodding beats, seemingly the only orienting component of the music. Palm, another local favorite, will also be performing their incredibly nuanced, arcane, avant-math-pop, which treads the seam between melody and dissonance, while covering more compositional ground within a single song than many bands cover in an entire album. Escape the chains of the workweek with Littler's new music video for "Somewhere Else"! Shot over several months during multiple tours, guitarist Dan Colanduno does a most excellent job at bringing the contrasting footage together, making it hard not to just walk out the door and never look back at your co-workers again.
