Rin Tin Tiger

Premiere: Rin Tin Tiger - Dandelion Dream + News on Their New Album

The San Francisco based avant country rock band, Rin Tin Tiger is gearing up to release their third full length album entitled, Burial Grounds. There’s something very charming about the music Rin Tin Tiger makes. You don’t see and hear a lot of country music coming out of the Bay Area as of late, but RTT has a way of using light reverb, and alternative rock compositional styles that probably draws you in a bit more than a traditional country band's music would.  With that said, country is at the very forefront of their sound and it’s great that they’re not afraid of that. You can hear elements of Sonic Youth and meanderings of shoegaze and folk music in their songs as well.

We’re lucky to be able to premiere a fresh track from Rin Tin Tiger's upcoming album called Dandelion Dream. Not all music has to be thrashy or pop oriented. Dandelion Dream is a simple love song that shows no false pretenses of trying to be something it’s not. If you’re looking for a RTT track that is faster paced, check out their first single, Small Cuts that Bleed A Lot. Their music is confident, fun and a bit different. Make sure you pre-order Burial Grounds in CD or digital format via their bandcamp or Itunes.

Rin Tin Tiger will be performing live at their double album release show with Owl Paws plus Growwler at The Independent on July 10th.

Fever Charm's Upcoming Album and Release Show

I was just chatting with a friend about how, once in a while, we’ll come across those people whose futures we’d want to invest in. I think it’s just a matter of time before the teens in Oakland’s Fever Charm wind up on the charts, and it’d really rev my hipster sensibilities to say, “I knew them when.”

Fever Charm’s infectious music is a collage of early 60’s rock ‘n’ roll, pop punk, and modern alt rock. If you’re not bopping your head within the first 30 seconds of any song, you’re almost certainly the Grinch.

Stream their newest single, “Recognize Me,” off upcoming full-length, West Coast Rock And Roll, for a sock hop swooner, or listen to their last EP, Sail Away, for nostalgic high school goodbyes and youthful ambivalence. I am convinced that “I Won’t Sleep Tonight” could overtake mainstream airwaves as the next big rock anthem.

Fever Charm drops their new album and performs at Bottom of the Hill on January 5th. They will share the stage with Rin Tin TigerEveryone Is Dirty, and False Priest, who are releasing their own album, Uncanny Valley, that night.

Read our interview with Fever Charm, and definitely make sure to check out the description of their best live show.

Preview: Rin Tin Tiger's Haunted Hoedown III with Doe Eye, The Steelwells, and Wes Leslie and His Deadly Medley

After my first play through Rin Tin Tiger’s Toxic Pocketbook, the album looped to the beginning. Instead of consciously realizing it, getting annoyed at my playback settings, and turning it off, I continued to listen with the nostalgic feeling the song had once been a favorite of mine. Chalk it up to premature senility, but I think it’s the alt folk trio’s ability to write compelling, lyric-centric music that manages to stay contemporary, while still paying homage to the folk rock deities.

Throw on a disguise, and catch Rin Tin Tiger headline their third annual Haunted Hoedown on October 27 at Bottom of the Hill. Also on the lineup are local artists Doe Eye and Wes Leslie and His Deadly Medley, as well as LA’s The Steelwells

You can get your $10 tickets here, but if you want to give Rin Tin Tiger more money, they might invest in some flamethrowers. We can only dream.
