The world of music lovers is divided in two categories: those who love pretty songs, and those who seek aural insanity. For the latter, we recommend Spray Paint, an Austin based trio whose sole purpose seems to be creating the most relentlessly tense music conceivable - edgy stuff! The group is also very prolific, having released five LPs in total, two this year alone, the latter (entitled "Doper") while touring the US. Fully dedicated to the cause, that's how you find your audience.

The tagline for Burger City Rock N Roll's Good Vibrations Fest says it all…"4 Days of peace, love and punk." Kicking off today and continuing through Dec. 7, the mini fest will take place over three venues, Hotel Vegas, Gypsy Lounge and The Grand. Local Austin acts like Ghetto Ghouls and Nameless Frames are part of the twenty plus lineup. Visiting bands will take part as well and y'all know it will be one hundred percent punk rock. Clean Blood, Regular Acid is the latest release from Austin trio Spray Paint. These guys – guitarists/vocalists Cory Plump and George Dishner and drummer Chris Stephenson - play grimy indie-rock with a spasmodic punk flair. The surf riffs and frantic shouty choruses pretty much equal a party. They deliver it all in such a nonchalant Sonic Youth inspired way, you might not even realize how hard they rock. Go check them out before they go on tour with their Monofonus Press labelmate, The Rebel. Hotel Vegas LP release show this Friday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. -Allison Mayoral

Clean Blood, Regular Acid is due out Sep. 23 on Monofonus Press. 

They say all good things must come to an end.  (We don't really believe that, but for the sake of putting a metaphysical slant to a post, we'll claim allegiance.)  And, sorry to say, Free Week is no exception.  Waah.

The Mohawk has a huge going-out-of-Free-Week show with the outside stage hosting Silent Diane, FEATHERS, BOAN, and Rare Species.  Inside, we'll have The Sour Notes, The Couch, Shivery Shakes, Letting Up Despite Great Faults, and The Plastic Habit.

And Red 7 will host TV Torso, Oh No Oh My, Hundred Visions, and Tiger Waves. 

Last and definitely not least, you could scoot over to Club DeVille and catch Oh Look Out, Friday Avenue, (one of our best of 2012) Borrisokane, Knifight, and Hydra Melody on the outside stage, whilest inside you can see Pop Pistol and Migrant Kids.
