On September 19th at the Elbo Room will host a hyper local line up of great bands. San Francisco based garage bands, Hungry Skinny, Lemme Adams, Talk of Shamans and El Terrible will create a bit of havoc and put on a great show. This is a strong line up that really leaves no room for any doubt that the night will be musically fulfilling.

We totally think you should do your best to make it out to this show. Support local musicians in San Francisco.

Talk of Shamans False Priest Peachelope and bAd bAd Play Publik / Private Event at Amnesia TONIGHT

A stellar line up of some of the Bay Area’s finest garage folk and alternative bands will be performing for the first night of the San Francisco based arts and music nonprofit, Publik / Private’s Tuesday night residency at Amnesia.

Journalist and radio host, Victor Valle curated the event under the moniker Counter Culture Presents after his management firm Counter Culture Artist Management. But it’s not about business tonight, this event is for a good cause and every Tuesday in September Publik / Private will highlight a new line up from a local promoter, artist or community leader who believes in supporting the Bay Area arts community as much as Publik / Private and The Deli Magazine SF do.

We know that San Francisco has been going through a super rough time when it comes to venues and artists no longer being able to work and live in their own community. This event will help bring opportunities to artists and writers by connecting them with job and internship opportunities, it will also allow Publik / Private to continue to put on events that give exposure to young and seasoned musicians alike. We like this!

Make your way out to Amnesia tonight to see Talk of Shamans, False Priest, Peachelope and bAd bAd.

Clumsy Concentration JAM Talk of Shamans and The Electric Magpie Play SUB/Mission TONIGHT

Did you ever find yourself pondering why there weren't enough psych bands in San Francisco? Of course you didn't, because the Bay Area is home to many psych bands, such as The Electric Magpie, who will be playing a show tonight. Playing at SUB/Mission, they will be bringing along fellow Bay Area bands, Talk of Shamans, JAM and Clumsy Concentration.

Playing first is Clumsy Concentration, a self-proclaimed "bedroom psych" project from Oakland. As what seems to be an acoustic act, they play hazy-sounding psych rock. JAM picks up the pace a bit. This San francisco-based psych band, composes instrumentals reminiscent of James Brown, and vocals that are pure, unadulterated psych rock. Performing after is Talk of Shamans, a San Francisco band hellbent on combining popgaze, psych and indie. Be sure to check out their track "Starecase", an up-tempo diddy with intricate guitar riffs that border on math rock.

And closing the night is Bay Area based band, The Electric Magpie. This band offers a blend of '60s psych rock and mod. Be sure to keep an eye out for their debut LP, Begins which will be released on Lollipop Records on April 15th. In the meantime, you can listen to a single they debuted last month called "Mourning Gloria." -Erin Dage
