The Teen Age

JP's CMJ 2014 Day3: Girl Tears, Mega Bog, Dinner, Widowspeak, Bailiff, The New Tarot, The Teen Age, Charly Bliss, Low Fat Getting High

Hey! I actually got out of my house before 2! Progress, man. I suppose I stopped drinking early enough the night before that it made for a somewhat conventional nights' sleep, odd hours. I woke up to a barrage of text messages from last night. My phone had died and I was playing catch-up on my life while trying to make it to Baby's for the Captured Tracks unofficial day party. Jesus I think this thing's starting to take a toll on me. I'm uncharacteristically writing this on the fly, on my rejuvenated telephone, trying not to fall behind. Or asleep. - keep reasing JP Basileo's report of Day 3 of the CMJ Music Marathon 2014 (picture by Micah Weisberg)

The Teen Age unveils video for 'Stop' + releases EP on 06.04 at Pianos

"Normal" people should visit some day one of these 24/7 rehearsal spaces in Gowanus or Greenpoint or Bushwick to understand what kind of conditions these "not-entirely-normal" people known as Brooklyn musicians commit themselves to for the sake of pursuing their dream. Or... they should simply watch this new video by The Teen Age, entirely shot in what most locals in the know would consider a "rather large" rehearsal studio - we are not kidding, some of these rooms are smaller than closets. The band in question delivers agarage rock sound with an epic vocal flavor - if you enjoy these silly abstractions, you can think of The Ramones led by Joe Strummer. See the video below and don't miss them live at Pianos tomorrow night (06.04)

P.S. Wow, isn't that huge reverb on the vocals... something?!

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

The Teen Age unveils videos + plays CMJ on 10.16

The carefree melodies of doo wop and bubble gum pop are coming back big time in this new decade, and Brooklyn's The Teen Age pair them with a lo-fi approach and distorted... everything! The band just unveiled this video for single "Matador" and announced it will be participating in the CMJ Music Marathon with a show at Spike Hill on October 16.
