The Walking Sticks give us what we want (I had to), premiering a new video for "You Got What You Wanted" on DCist today. Made on an iphone, it features what looks to be a single shot walk through a snow-covered wood with the snow falling. The creative minds of The Walking Sticks have managed to turn the otherwise dreary and upsetting weather into something beautiful and mystical. Thank you.

The song itself is pretty sexy. Like Portishead sexy, where the sex is kind of angry/frustrated/despairing sex (because, in this case, it seems, the sex is too addictive to escape). The music does not share the sexy gloom of a "Wandering Star" however. A beautiful organ leads the pretty sounds that fall about it like soft white snowflakes. The track, like the video, is filled with brightness, and Chelsea Lee's crystal voice. "Can't stop loving the high" indeed. --Natan Press

Looking for a reprieve from the arctic cold? Look no further than O'Brien's in Allston tonight for a lineup loaded with catchy pop tunes from some incredible local acts. Dominic Florio, K.O., Kevin William and Jen Aldana will be livening-up the dive bar, presented by Boston Music Scene. Doors are at 8PM, $8, 18+. Just remember the number eight and you should be fine.

The Sun Parade’s Hearts Out EP feels like a care-free walk through the woods of Western Mass. The light hearted single “Hearts Out” showcases the vocal prowess of lead singer Chris Jennings, with a smooth and bright tone and surprisingly rich falsetto. They’re in the midst of tour right now and will be playing Great Scott in Allston, along with the ladies of And The Kids, this Wednesday February 25th, and again in New Haven, CT on the 26th. Come February 27th, Dover Brickhouse will be heated up by three premium local New England Psych acts. Gymshorts grabbed the #3 slot in our end of year poll with their scuzzy Surf-Punk. They’re being joined by The Televibes and Randos, from Massachusetts and New Hampshire respectively. The Televibes have a bright punchy sound with absurd amounts of reverb and delay on the vocals. When they all start shouting the chorus of their tune “Washed Up” it makes your head spin in the best way. Huzzah! The North Country have released a video for "The Cross We Bear," a single off their upcoming album There Is Nothing To Fear. The video shows the day in the life of a wooden artist's mannequin-cum-Everyman who's got just the dreariest life. I don't want top ruin the ending for you, but he gets out of his rut with the help of a skateboarding apatosaurus and some acid. Also serendipitous love.

The North Country is hittin' the road this April, with dates through the mid-atantic and South (and a couple stops in Texas), spreading the glory of the DC DIT scene far and wide. You should really go see them. --Natan Press
