Bangladeafy win NYC reader's poll and sweep the best punk/metal act category

We here at the Deli are excited to announce that our absolute favorite schizo-prog/math-metal-freakout band, Bangladeafy, has not only swept the best NYC metal/punk act category for our yearly polls, but have also garnered the top pick in our NYC reader's poll! Offering up facemelting riffage at it's absolute finest, the mindbending duo of Jon Ehlers and Atif Haq make highly virtuosic tunes that push not only the bounds of genres, but of technical playing ability. Bangladeafy is undoubtedly a band to watch, but if you don't believe me, go ahead and smack that play button below. We would also like to thank all of the bands for participating, and the readers and jurors who make these polls possible every year.-Olivia Sisinni

Sludge Out for Human Rights Tomorrow

Heavy times call for heavy measures. One of the heaviest measures we can take to combat the bountiful amount of bullshit in this country currently is by hitting up the sixth annual Ceremony of Sludge, taking place tomorrow at the High Water Mark.

This year's Ceremony of Sludge is a benefit for our local chapters of two  Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette and the ACLU of Oregon. Trudge through some brutal sludge with some sets from Witch Mountain, Troll, Disenchanter, Seattle's Year of the Cobra, and a comeback after a two year show hiatus from Lamprey

Every last bit of money made at the door will be donated to both of these organizations, as will funds made from merch by Cravedog and posters drawn by Oddball Tattoo artist Sarah Crosley, so come show some support. Tickets are on a sliding scale starting at $10.

New Track: "The Electric Step" - Ecstatic Vision

Raw Rock Fury, the new album from Ecstatic Vision, is slated for released on April 7 via Relapse. “The Electric Step” cultivates a heavy, hazy, rhythmic air of anticipation, before the guttural ooze of sorcerer-style vocals descend from the mountaintop. The long-form nature shifts you into the band’s fire-breathing, axe-wielding ferocity. And before the crew heads down to SXSW, catch them this Friday, March 10 at Underground Arts as part of an epic bill that also includes upcoming tourmates Creepoid as well as Purling Hiss and The Spirit of the Beehive!
