PALMAS unveil orchestral single “Flowers,” play Rockwood on 11.01

Following the debut EP To The Valley from 2015, PALMAS has released a new single called “Flowers”, featuring a beautiful and rather impressive arrangement clearly inspired to The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds": hammond organs, french horns and a luscious string section build on the lead choral vocals, which draw celestial melodies Mr. Brian Wilson himself would be proud of (if he only got around to listen!). We are looking forward to see how PALMAS develops their infatuation with the 60’s pop revival, and in the meantime don't miss their upcoming live show at Rockwood Music Hall on November 1. - Ashley Muniz

Pavo Pavo unveils stunning video for "Ran Ran Run," debut album out on 11.11

There's only one thing that can make a great song even better, and that's a visually stunning video, and that's what the collective called SWIMMERS pulled off for NYC's orchestral pop quartet Pavo Pavo's single "Ran Ran Run," a single we alrady raved about when it came out more than one year ago. The video comes with some news we were waiting for: Pavo Pavo is about to release their debut album on November 11 under Bella Union Records - it will be entitled 'Young Narrator In The Breakers.' This is a group of young but extremely competent musicians who worked closely with indie and classical heavyweights such as Here We Go Magic, John Zorn, Dave Longstreth, Porches, Olga Bell, Lucius, Roomful of Teeth, and San Fermin. The record was co-produced by Danny Molad (Lucius) and Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds, Apollo Sunshine), so expectations should be high. Check out also the other single available for streaming, 'Wiserway,' also streaming Below. The band will be performing at Manhattan Inn on 10.19.

Kuroma releases 'The Dark Horse Rides Again' LP at Union Poll 10/5

From the sound of it, psych-pop band Kuroma's latest release, "Perfect Girl," might have been written under the influence of a serious summer crush. Starting simply with a strumming acoustic guitar, the track slowly builds, erupting into rich layers of orchestral instrumentation - is that the sound of soaring love? Though the arrangement gets more complex as the tune progresses, "Perfect Girl" manages to remain grounded, courtesy of Hank Sullivant's dulcet vocals hovering over the mix. The result is a tune that sounds as if it was plucked from a mid-60's summer top 40 chart. Foreign Air drops new single "Better for It" and play U Street

With soaring vocals and infectious backbeats, DC-based Foreign Air brings you "Better for It," the latest single from the alt/synth-pop duo. Starting with simple, delicate piano, the tune's momentum gradually builds, eventually doubling down and releasing into lush layers of instrumentation by the time the chorus hits. "Better for It" is ripe-for-radio ear candy, and we'd be shocked if you're not humming along with the hook by the track's end.  Stream "Better for It" below, and catch them at the U Street Music Hall 10/27 with the Strumbellas. - Olivia Sisinni
