Muy Bueno. If you like your rock n roll mean, sleazy, noisy and edgy, you’ve found home. Mexican Slang pounds out cavernous, beautiful tunes driven by reckless sludgy guitar and garage-rock drums, with sickly sweet Annabelle's vocals front and centre for the whole ride. The energy and the grime of their A-side “Fever” paired with the erie pulse of “Goatlord” makes for a quick and dirty tumble through 5 minutes of adrenaline and attitude. There doesn’t seem to be any one defining influence over these three, other than a strong love for fuzztones and brevity, getting the point across loud, proud, and in a hurry. LA Jeff’s newest record, the aptly titled Holidaze Inn, is the perfect remedy for those late-night, (or anytime) fuzzed-out, psych rock cravings. 
My favorite track is “Sailor”, with its churning, hypnotizing chords and mesmerizing vocals. If I were to write a movie, I’d probably write a scene with a sailor having an acid trip on a boat just so I could put this in the soundtrack.

The San Francisco based psych shoegaze band, The Spiral Electric and Fine Points, the new formation of a band featuring members of the successful local psych-soul band, Sleepy Sun are going to be performing live at Brick and Mortar Music Hall on June 3rd.

Fine Points are so new that they have yet to release any recorded material, so this show should be some incentive to massage your curious nature (if you possess it) and see what the band can actually do. Obviously, The Spiral Electric is a great live band, and the legendary neo psych band, The Warlocks will be in town to put on an always stellar performance. The Warlocks are an indispensable band to the Los Angeles and Bay Area neo psychedelic music scene. They've opened doors for countless current local bands and helped set the sonic standard for the washed out, reverb latent garage rock style that we've all become accustomed to knowing as a huge chuck of the local music community's signature sound. These garage fellas from Hamilton have dropped the first tune from their upcoming album in video form! Pet Sun is all about the fuzz. Fuzzy guitars and now they're eating fuzzy pudding. This video for "Never Quit" was directed by Billy Moon. It has some wild green screen action, trippy effects, the aforementioned fuzzy pudding, a band-eating witch and of course a badass headbanger of a song. This tune absolutely forces to move your head with the simple yet convincing guitar riffs. Their new record is due for release later this year and it's going to bring the house down. For now you can download their EP "Feel Like I'm Going Away" but do yourself a favor and see them live on Thursday May 28 at This Ain't Hollywood. They're taking off down to the States after that and they may never come back. I hear the witch is still after them...-Kris "Big City"Gies

This past Memorial Day weekend, City Hall Plaza in Boston transformed once again from concrete wasteland into a vibrant music festival. Nestled-in among the marquee acts (Pixies, Tenacious D and My Morning Jacket, to name a few), Boston locals Krill and The Ballroom Thieves left quite an impression on the early-afternoon festival-goers.
